Their call centres and counsellors are overwhelmed with calls, and they need all our help to ensure that every child can reach someone when they need them the most. Funds are needed to continue to answer the calls, recruit and train volunteer counsellors and to develop new technology to ensure children can communicate with ChildLine in ways they feel most comfortable.
In 2009 ChildLine launched an online service where children can also receive live, confidential online counselling through ChildLine.org.uk.
ChildLine is the chosen charity of the UK information security industry, and together we can help ChildLine achieve its objectives. We have pledged to raise £1,000 in sponsorship with our entry to the White Hat Rally to support them.
- ChildLine want to be able to answer 80% of the calls to the Helpline
- ChildLine aim to recruit 1,786 more volunteers
- In total, ChildLine aims to answer over 1,100,000 calls per year
- By 2011 ChildLine plans to provide counselling support for 1.2 million calls plus 380,000 online and SMS contacts
How you can help
- £4 could answer a child’s call to ChildLine
- £85 could pay for the cost of counselling two children who would otherwise feel like no one is there to help them
- £250 could pay for two days of individual therapeutic sessions between a child and social worker at one of ChildLine’s domestic violence centres
- £1,000 could cover the cost of all the freephone calls to one ChildLine counsellor for two years
ChildLine relies on people like you to have the commitment and generosity to help end cruelty to children. If you would like to make a personal donation to support ChildLine please click on the link at the bottom of this page or visit our donation page.
