'The Italian Job' Film Screening

A huge thanks to everyone that attended the private screening of the original 1969 version of the classic film ‘The Italian Job’ & the big screen showing of the White Hat Rally advert on Thursday night – your support was greatly appreciated.

Also thank you very much to the organisers for putting on such a great event – most us do not realise how much work and effort goes on behind the scenes so a huge cheer goes out to the White Hat Rally Organisers!!

It was a great evening out especially for those of us that had never seen the original film. We heard Charlie (Michael Caine) utter the immortal line "you're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off" and we were well on our way!!

The Italian Job embraces the classic caper set-up. Charlie is the loveable cockney rogue with a taste for life’s’ illegal finery. He has recently been released at Her Majesty’s discretion but is already looking for another shot at the big time. This comes in the form of putting together a plot to steal four million dollars-worth of gold in an Italian bank heist. The film contains some comic moments with Crokers’ gang writing off numerous Mini’s and trucks before they are ready to roll. It contains the legendary, and much imitated, Mini Cooper chase sequence. Just when we all think that Croker and his gang have got away with it, we are left with the final twist which leaves us with one of the most memorable cliff-hanger film endings of all time!!

The most important element of the film for those of us taking part in the rally was the stunning scenery, the winding route through the Alps and the beautiful architecture of Turin.

Now that you have pictured part of this stunning route I am sure that this has made you want to see it in person and take part in the rally even more. Make sure that you pass on the rally and website details to as many people as you know: www.whitehatrally.org the more teams that we can get involved the more fun it will be and most importantly extra money will be raised for ChildLine.

Book your room!

As part of the arrangements for the rally we have been able to secure several rooms for the participants of the rally.

The rooms cost £350 for four nights (1 night in each location). Each room will sleep two people as either a twin or a double so all in accommodation is £175 per person.

We have approximately 50 rooms at each location and they are available on a first come, first served basis. If you require a room contact us at italianjob@whitehatrally.org.

Alternatively use this discussion group to share ideas on where to stay. But as a guide, try out:
